Vitamin D
Discomfort
Taking your vitamins is supposed to be good for you. Who would think that Discomfort, our vitamin D for today’s newsletter, would be a recommended vitamin? We do. And therefore, we are providing you with an opportunity to tune into that which gives you discomfort. There is so much to learn from what makes you uncomfortable.
What makes you fidget when holding an asana? What makes you wanna get up and run when there’s a conversation about to take place that requires broaching a delicate, intimate, or disagreeable topic? What makes you rail at news of inhumanity or cruelty? Discomfort is a feeling that has the ability to hone your attention to a fine point. That seems like something that could be good for you.
Instead of zeroing in, often our first sense is to avoid discomfort at any cost. But, if you allow yourself to stay engaged, much is being revealed. As an example, staying with discomfort in asana will allow you to learn to decode the necessary information regarding pain as a feedback system. We are including some insights on pain in the Teachers Corner section of this newsletter, which is taken from Ganga’s book, Yoga Beyond Belief.
Vitamin D, Discomfort, is good for you. Give it a shot. It can strengthen your resilience. It can provide insights into multiple areas of your life. Take your vitamin D with a dose of patient observation. We think it will improve the quality of your life.
