Community and World Service

White Lotus Foundation has an ongoing program of service to the community, the world, and the planet. Our purpose is the development of the total human being by furthering the physical, moral and spiritual development of all people without dogma and ritualism, and to do any and all such acts and things as may be necessary or conducive to the spiritual good of the world. Over the years since our founding White Lotus has made significant and enduring contributions. In addition to our ongoing programs and educational activities we have direct service programs including the following.

1960’s - 1970’s: Touring USA and Europe and visiting colleges, universities and religious organizations offering free educational programs, lectures and demonstrations to familiarize people with the teachings of yoga. Donations of books and educational materials to prisons. Demonstrations and programs in prisons and inner city areas.

1980’s: Touring USA and visiting colleges, universities and religious organizations offering free educational programs, lectures and demonstrations to familiarize people with the teachings of yoga. Donations of books and educational materials to prisons. Demonstrations and programs in prisons and inner city areas. Center and Retreat facilities made available to public service groups.

1990’s: Ecological programs in Brazil. Retreat facilities made available to public service groups for programs. Special retreat programs offered to inner city under-privileged kids in cooperation with EC-2000 at White Lotus.

2000 - 2007: Retreat facilities made available to public service groups for programs. Teens at risk programs in cooperation with The Art of Yoga Project and teen leadership and self esteem programs through AHA, Academy of Healing Arts. Books donated to libraries and correctional facilities. Yoga Educational materials freely distributed over the internet. Talks and programs for service groups. Scholarships in our teacher training programs for teachers committed to giving free service by way of yoga to women’s shelters and homes for abused women and to teens in juvenile homes and treatment facilities.
